NCDFREE are heading back to Melbourne to launch the Innovation Incubator – our latest event which aims to engage the next generation of leaders from health and beyond.

This 150 minute workshop will showcase the wide variety of activities and concepts which NCDFREE has developed and championed since 2013, specifically focusing on the diverse communication and advocacy tools used to engage young professionals and students in the topics of NCDs and Global Health.

Attendees will gain innovative thinking, advocacy and leadership skills through interactive presentations, skill sharing and design-oriented exercises. Ultimately, we aim to connect a diverse group of next generation thinkers and leaders with NCDs, NCDFREE and Global Health through stimulating and exciting activities.

Exclusively for this session, we have secured two emerging young leaders in Dr Phil Baker and Dr Eddie Cliff who will share their skills and experiences.

Dr Phil Baker is an Alfred Deakin Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, at Deakin University, Melbourne. His work focuses on the politics of food and nutrition policy, global nutrition epidemiology, globalization and food systems, and the political economy of public health. He has a PhD from the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, Australian National University. Dr Baker has previously worked as an intern for the World Health Organization on nutrition policy, consulted to international organizations on nutrition, and has published widely on food and nutrition topics in the academic literature and in the media.

Dr Eddie Cliff is an Australian junior doctor with a passion for public health and policy, who trained at Monash University and undertook honours in diabetes physiology at the University of Oxford. He has worked on policy for the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations and the Australian Medical Students’ Association, where he was a lead author on the nutrition policy.
